I know it is strange to think, but Penn State is earning more clout in a loss. This is because they are finally playing with the big boys, and showing that they belong there. Penn State's game with Rutgers is going to have massive implications for both teams both for a possible At-Large spot but also a place in the Big-Ten Tournament.
For Albany, this is true as well. They have looked so good this year but have only had two true tests. With one goal losses to Syracuse and Maryland they have shown that they can play dead even with the number one and two teams in the nation! Does this theoretically mean that they are the third best team in the country????
Not really, winning one of these games would have helped them big time!!!! Red hot Yale is coming up on the schedule giving Albany a chance to finally earn a big win!!!
Let's play the what-if game...... What if, Albany drops a tight game to Yale and does not earn the conference AQ???? Does Albany have a resume to get in? I don't think that they do.
UNC has a lot of losses. It is hard for people to keep them in their rankings and I can understand that because I have the same emotional response. But, that is what people are having...
UNC has lost to: #1,2,4,6,13,14
That puts them behind those guys. UNC also has wins over: #7,16
If you look at this like a math problem, the data indicates that UNC is somewhere in the teens and that is about right. They would be favored over the teams behind them in the rankings and probably some of the teams ahead of them as well. The have played EIGHT ranked teams!!! If you think that a team should be ranked ahead of them, ask your self "how would Binghamton to with this schedule?" You can insert Monmouth, BU or Providence into phrase as well.
We are just upset, that the defending National Champion is underachieving. That does not mean that they are not one of the best 20 teams in the country.
Watch out for these guys!!! They are really good!!!! A slow start keeps them low in my rankings but I have a feeling that they are going to make a strong to quite strong run in the playoffs.
