Another Week With Major Shake-Ups in the Polls! No one would have guessed this team would be #1

No One Would Have Guessed #1 & #2 Before the Season Started!!!!

Rutgers

Rutgers is rolling!!!!! Other than the NJIT game, they are beating teams that way that they should and surprising everyone along the way. No one, would have guessed that Rutgers would be number one at the start of the season.

Are they the best team in the country??? Right now they have the best resume. They can thank Army and Princeton for their great seasons thus far! Without them picking off the big boys, things could look a lot different for Rutgers. Can Rutgers beat the giants of the sport? We will find out when they hit Big Ten play!

Ohio State

Unranked to #2! That's what happens when you are undefeated vs weaker opponents and then you beat a top 20 and a top 5 team in the same week. Their resume went from weak to strong very fast!

Lots of Changes!!!

But why not??? There were a lot of games that did not go as planned... At least for the favorites. Each new week should be a completely fresh look at the rankings. Big shifts occurred because of strength of schedule changes. How much do your quality wins mean and how bad are you loses? When your opponents get better or worse, that will reflect on your resume. Games you should easily win, are not really factored in unless you are underperforming in those games.

Hofstra Slides with a Win?

Last week's #1, Hofstra, won but they dropped 3 spots!!! They had a one-goal win over Providence. They should have beat them by a lot more. The UNC and Princeton wins, that had propelled them to the top are not as strong as they were last week. Princeton and UNC both took losses this week and UNC moved down the charts pretty far. With Ohio St, Rutgers and Notre Dame all adding quality wins (Ohio St 2QW's), Hofstra's strength of schedule drops them slightly.

What's Up with Albany & Penn State???

Why do I have Albany over Penn State if Albany has a loss and no big wins? Simple answer is: playing a top ten team and losing by one goal at their place is worth more than not playing them at all. A one-goal Penn State win v Fairfield was also not very convincing this week. Albany is handling the teams that it is supposed to. Penn State's one goal UPenn win is also not as strong as it used to be with UPenn dropping from the rankings.

Both teams need a big game to prove who they really are!!! Albany had Maryland, but weather postponed it. Penn State will have the Big Ten Schedule to show their true colors this season. Win all of those games and they will be number 1!!!!
