The Middle School and Youth Teams had a strong weekend of play and development heading to a play day with O2 and Mad Dog and Blue Hen. The teams played hard and began to grow as groups improving each game of the day. The commitment of our players and coaches, teaching and learning, created this upward trend of improvement across the board each day.

O2/Mad Dog Play Day

2025

2025 White got an early start on a gorgeous fall morning in New York, and learned a lot while playing against O2 and Mad Dog's AA teams. On the day the team was led by elite goaltending by Luke Donahue, the faceoff prowess of Rafferty Harris, and a number of caused turnovers by Longstick Middie Lexi Tomaselli.

The 2025 Blue/Navy team also learned a lot while facing off with O2 and Mad Dog's A teams. Our main focus for the Fall is always about player development and building the foundation, and every time on the field with our players helps us towards their individual goals and what we want to achieve as a team. Owen Harris shined in the cage for this group, while making saves that bewildered opposing shooters, and throwing crisp outlets to spark transition opportunities. Devin Skinner impressed with his effort, and willingness to be the team's glue; filling every role that the coaches needed him in and doing it with hustle and a smile.

2026 White

The 2026's at 02/Mad Dog playday went 2-0 on the day. They showed outstanding hustle in the groundball game and riding along with outstanding play from the defense. The team was anchored by goalie Owen Harris who had a great day in net. The defense in front of him of Rocco Trainor, Sean Currie, Kyle Wenzel, and Ryan Wright provided a strong front.

The offense was lead by a team effort and great play in transition and scramble situations. The ball movement in these situations was fast, crisp, and made the difference. Evan Michener had a great day with outstanding off-ball play getting open several times.

2027 White

2027 White went 1-1 on the day, winning impressively against O2 and dropping a very tight game with Mad Dog. The team is learning, coming together, and playing the game the right way in the process! Michael Webster had the best game of his young career as a defenseman, while Nate Damashek shined at the Faceoff X and with his hustle between the lines.

Blue Hen

2025

The 2025 team came together to play 2 very competitive and complete games as the day went on, winning against PLC on a buzzer beater by Owen Dillon, and then playing a one goal game against a very strong Zingos team. Mark Doyle routinely made saves he had no business making, particularly in the last game against Zingos. Devin Skinner and Christian LaRusso impressed at the faceoff X, and with a few hefty step down shots that gave the opposing goalies trouble.

2026

The 2026 team had a bit of an eye-opener in their first game against a very strong 302 Team, before tightening up and having a hard-fought game against Freedom. They ended the day on a high note with a big 9-3 win over Zingos. Sean Currie dominated in the middle of the field as a Longstick Midfielder, while Aidan Ruff directed traffic and made plays behind the goal on the offensive end of the field.

2027

The 2027 team had arguably the toughest schedule of any Blue Star team on Sunday, as they played Zingos, SouthShore, and Brotherly Love. The team fought extremely hard and played together to be close in each game. Koby Waldman made play after play, forcing defenses to decide whether to make him beat them as a shooter or passer, and neither worked in the opposition's favor. Jasper Zumbach made plays all over the middle of the field and was a true two-way threat for his team.

2028

The youngest Blue Star group at the event came together as the day went on. After the initial setback, the team tied against Arden Diamondbacks, before winning a very tight final game against Tribe, by a score of 5-4. Conor Albert stepped into a leadership role on the field and did everything that the coaches asked of him while spending much of his day away from his typical Attack position; in order to neutralize opposing faceoff specialists, and to kickstart the offense through the midfield. Jack Farrington had a hat trick to help the team pull ahead and stay in the lead during their win. Colby Etzkorn made a number of impressive saves and was stellar on clears to help turn defense into offense.
