The IMLCA has submitted a letter to the NCAA Student-Athlete Experience Committee supporting changes to the recruiting cycle.

In the recent IMLCA newsletter, a large community of college lacrosse coaches has rallied behind measures presented by their women's lacrosse counterparts to slow down the early recruiting process. This potential change will impact high school players if implemented.  More importantly, this initiates a formal conversation regarding the negative impacts of early recruiting. Please read the two linked articles below as they give great insight into this discussion.

What does this mean for you?

As a student-athlete or the parent of one, it is important to know that you do not have to go through the early recruiting process. You can wait and have a more "normal" timeline to choose your future college. This gives players and families more time to find a support team of experienced, knowledgeable and connected people to help guide you through the process. If the proposed changes are enacted, it will be more important than ever to be well positioned for the first few years of the new recruiting process.

Blue Star has one of the most well-connected and experienced staffs in club lacrosse today. Together, they have over 40 years of experience with the college recruiting process. Coach Whitlow is one of the most respected authorities in the country and is held in high regards by college coaches. Coach Green’s position as a high school college counselor, combined with his years of coaching high school and club lacrosse, gives him an impressive and wholesome view of the entire process. This unique combination of professional experiences gives Blue Star an unparalleled depth to college placement expertise.

We believe in a holistic view to the college process, by considering all of the elements that play into such a critical decision. Every All-Star will receive individualized recruiting plans and guidance from Coaches Whitlow and Green. This approach will give players and their families the knowledge, confidence, and security they need to navigate the college process.

The IMLCA is joining the IWLCA in stating how prevalent early recruiting is in the sport of lacrosse and that it must be slowed down in the best interests of coaches (and their families) and prospects (and their families).

The IMLCA and IWLCA are requesting that the NCAA SAEC recommend the proposed changes enter the NCAA legislative cycle for 2016-17 for consideration by the Division I membership.
